A Better Name

Eight years ago, when I first self-published my book, “Aimless Life, Awesome God” I wanted to set up a blog to promote it and to write about life and faith in general. I hastily set up this site and chose robertfrohlichauthor.com as the site title.

Since then, I’ve written over one hundred fifty blog posts. In the process, I have made many new friends, some of whom have published multiple books. Their books, most of which I’ve read, are well-researched and well-written, whether historical fact-based accounts or intriguing fiction. It’s a privilege to know these folks. I have also learned plenty from those who are not book authors, but who write about their interests and life in ways that are informative and entertaining.

I dislike pretension, especially if I’m the one putting on airs. I’m just a guy who wrote a book about his own life. True, the book was intended to give God the glory; to tell about how Jesus died for a sinner like me, and about how God intervened in all the key moments of my life to accomplish His purposes in me. The book was never going to be a best-seller; in truth, the fact that it sold at all is amazing to me. So, whatever I thought might happen when it was published in 2016, the reality is that fewer than one hundred copies were bought.

But still, some of my readers, book or blog, received a blessing from it. That is, an ordinary guy like me has been used to bless, or at least entertain, a few people, and perhaps give them a glimpse of this awesome God who loves ordinary folks – sinners just like me.

Which brings me to the reason I’ve renamed my site Just BobF (justbobf.com).

In the book of Acts is an account of Peter and John before the ruling council where they have been accused because of their teaching. After Peter makes his defense by preaching the gospel, the rulers are presented with a dilemma.

Acts 4:13 (ESV) Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.

I never finished college, and I’m as common as white bread, but I have been with Jesus (or rather, Jesus has been with me). So I’ll continue to write about life and faith, with humor and humility, because I am, after all, just BobF.

I hope all this renaming doesn’t mess up anything, so please dear followers, let me know that you have received this blog. I you haven’t, then…wait …what?…oh, yeah.

  1. You’re still coming through, and I, for one, appreciate it. Like you, I just started blogging in 2015 for just a few friends, but to honor our Lord. Found some new ones along the way, and am hoping some of the muslims and Hindus who have followed me on and off this will have their eyes opened by the Holy Ghost to see Jesus.
    ❤️&🙏, c.a.

  2. So glad you have continued Robert. My blog was something to do while recovering from two should surgeries. One never knows how God might use the least of our words, stories or lives.

  3. I was able to find you too, using the old address. I’ve written down the new one for future reference. Kudos for reaching the 150th post, Robert (or do you prefer Bob?) and keep reaching!

  4. I’m a little late in replying to this, Robert, but I wanted to say I’m glad you’re continuing to write, by whatever name you give your blog. I appreciate your attitude of exalting God rather than self. I’ve always felt uncomfortable promoting my own writing, feeling as though I was promoting myself in the process, something I definitely do not want to do. I was just reading this morning in 2 Corinthians 15, in which Paul referred to the “thorn in the flesh” that God gave Him so that he wouldn’t be “exalted above measure” and made to realize that “My grace is sufficient for thee; for My strength is made perfect in [your] weakness.” Keep writing and exalting the only One worthy of exaltation!
