Words. They are powerful, able to inspire, to educate, to stir the heart. God has called me to share my story, which is really His story, to glorify HIm.
I’m not dead …
…just uninspired. After posting a new blog once every week for over three years, I have run out of steam. But as you maybe can tell, I still log in every day to see what you all are up to. Your posts inspire, educate, and interest me. The occasional chuckle you elicit brightens my day. I admire your skills as writers; you make me want to write better.
But, until I get my next inspiration, maybe my next road trip, I’m going to leave you with a couple of photos – proof of life if you will.
Me and Monica Palumbo, the sweetest NASCAR Sprint girl. Richmond, VA 2011
My genuine Tasmanian Devil wool cap, a gift from my daughters after their trip to New Zealand.
And because I’m all about wheels, here’s the 1961 Plymouth Valiant I owned right after we were married. Just because it’s the weirdest looking car I’ve owned (so far).It had three on the floor, a slant six engine, and a cool sounding glass pack muffler. If that last sentence made no sense to you it’s because I’m old and you’re not.
My first car wasn’t cool–at least at the time. It was automatic–no stick on the floor. It was four door, not a coupe. In short, it was a family car, not a get-the-girl car. But that was okay because I already had the girl and the proof was in the two neat holes she wore in the carpet over the “hump” where she put her heels when she sat close beside me! Foolishly, I sold that car to my brother for $200. I should have known it was the wrong move when he offered to fly from Lynchburg, VA, to Knoxville, TN, to pick it up. He later “restored” it and sold it for a handsome profit. And I? I bought a sporty two-door Olds Omega hatchback V-8–just as the gas crunch of the Seventies hit! 😦 I’ve missed your posts. Hope you get inspired again soon!
That slant six engine was one of the most reliable engines America ever built until recent years. AND you could work on it without getting a degree in computer tech‼️😉
Now there’s an idea when writers’ block hits: pull out an old photo and let the back story unfold through your keyboard! I remember Valiants so must admit to being old, even though I don’t feel like it. The car in the background intrigued me too. Don’t know whether it’s a Ford, Chevy, or Plymouth, but I vaguely remember those too (NOT when they were brand new, of course!! )
I often get inspiration from another blogger or one of the Christian podcasts I listen to when I walk my dog, Henry. I post every Saturday and sometimes it gets down to Friday before I know what I’m going to write about. I don’t like when that happens, but sometimes it does. Plan B is to post an older post. Plan C is to repost another blogger’s post. Blessings, Robert!

I think it’s a Chevy. I have owned 40 cars so far. Maybe there’s a story to go with each one.

Oh my goodness–40?! By the time you collect all the stories for each one, you’ll have a book!😁
