Wordless Prayer

This morning, during my prayer time, I struggled to express what was on my heart to God, my Father. Concerns for my family, the state of the world, the pandemic, war, and the rank stupidity of humans; my words were simply insufficient to express what was on my heart.

As I closed my prayer, in Jesus’ name, two thoughts came to mind. First, I had less than 45 minutes until my usual Friday post was due, and I had nothing written. Second, I remembered an anthem our choir sang about nine years ago, “Wordless Prayer”. I was part of that tiny choir, and this was one of my favorite anthems. The quality of the recording isn’t great, but I hope you will be blessed by the words and music.

Romans 8:26-27 (NIV) In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

  1. I rely on the intercession of the Holy Spirit more nowadays than I ever have in my entire life. Believers are on the same page, not by joining our heads together physically, but by the leading of Christ’s Spirit. Thanks for letting me know that I’m not alone in my wordless prayers. Jesus is Lord, plain and simple.
