Yesterday, because the weather is warming here in Wisconsin, I walked around the house and yard, avoiding the eight inches of snow still on the ground in spots. Our house sits on a half acre lot, and I like to look at what’s going on in my world. Are the bird feeders full? Is the ice off the roof yet? (No.) Is the snowmelt draining away? (Yes.) How are the other critters doing and how are the trees and shrubs after the heavy winter snows?
There was a nice surprise under our living room window; the crocuses are starting to poke through. I love this annual sign of Spring, the beautiful blossoms that will soon form, and the sense that all is as God has ordained it. You see, the crocuses are not supposed to be there, I dug them up over twenty years ago. Apparently God protected a few of them from my garden trowel, so every year they show up just to remind me who is in charge.

This morning I read from Psalms. This one verse in particular struck me:
Psalms 33:18 (ESV) Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love,…
Just like me in my yard, God is always keeping an eye on things, and especially on those people who are His. Do we look well after a year of pandemic and insolation? Is the pantry full? How are we feeling today? Happy or sad, strong or weak, confident in the faith or full of doubt? Do we feel safe or scared? Jesus said that even the hairs on our head are numbered, God knows us that intimately. Imagine being loved so much! Read that verse again and know it applies to you, precious believer.
Feeling puny today, so a well-timed blessing. He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.
